It was just a short dump pass to get the first down and keep the offense moving, but it turned into the last play of my season. As I screamed in pain, a million thoughts went through my head. I didn’t want my season to be over, I wanted to play with my teammates and brothers.
We found out yesterday what we all suspected on Saturday evening, my 2016 season is over.
I’ve been through a lot in my 20 years and this is just another mountain to climb. There’s a saying out there that says that god gives the hardest battles to the toughest soldiers. I can sit around and wallow in disappointment or I can attack rehab and recovery like no other and come back stronger than before. If you know anything about it, there’s no doubt I’m choosing the latter.
We have a great support staff here, both in our training room with our doctors and trainers, as well as a great strength staff with Coach Stew and his guys. I know that those guys will put a plan in place for my rehab and recovery and we’ll get to work as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I will be the best teammate I can possibly be. I have all the faith in the world in Deontez, Xavier and Jay. Those guys will work their butts off to do anything they can to help the team win. That’s what this group is all about. We want to win. We want to be great and I’m going to do everything I can do help this team reach that goal, it will just be from a different place than I want it to be from.
Rest assured Spider fans, I WILL be back.
