With Thanksgiving next week, Spider Voices asked several Richmond student-athletes what they were thankful for this year. Football’s Jacob Roberson and women’s golf’s Elsa Diaz share what they are thankful for this holiday season.
With Halloween gone and Christmas so near,
Many of us become full of holiday cheer.
Which isn’t so bad,
I mean this time of year,
But let us not forget about the ones we hold dear.
Yes, Thanksgiving is a time where we are thankful,
But why are we restricted to a certain time of year to be so grateful?
Grateful for our friends, family, health and happiness,
I hope we all recognize this beautiful life we’ve been blessed with.
So this is just a reminder to always say thank you,
Continue to love and appreciate those who have made an impact on you.
I am thankful for my friends, my family, and God for allowing me to have a relationship with him.
-Jacob Roberson, redshirt freshman, Football
I am extremely thankful for my family.
I am thankful for my siblings,
That make my everyday life worth living
Sara, my sister, who pushes me to keep running
Adolfo, who keeps me adventurers with all his loving
For Uncle Bruce with his two wonderful sons
When we talk and play golf from dusk to dawn
My Mother, the wind beneath my wings
Who’s there when I need someone and reminds me of all the small things
My father, who is my coach, my life mentor
He’s taught me everything and there could never be any better
These people make me who I am today
Sometimes I wish Texas wasn’t so far away
But I am thankful for them and all I have to say
Is that you also have someone to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day!
